The following press release is issued by Australian media, We would really appreciate it if you could confirm.
BRISBANE, February 9th, 2017: Continuing its focus on innovation, Terra Drone Corporation today announced the launch of the ‘Terra Explore’ series of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for the benefit of the Australian energy industry.
Japan’s leading UAV provider, Terra Drone’s new Terra Explore comprises an unmanned UAV with a spherical cage, offering significant cost and time savings during visual inspections of storage tanks and other equipment, while significantly improving safety compared to visual inspections.
“Traditional visual inspections using scaffolding or rope to access storage tanks, for example, are costly and time-consuming and run the risk of accidents,” said Terra Drone’s Brisbane branch chief, Tsuyoshi Honda.
“Terra Drone’s new collision-tolerant Terra Explore UAV can reach inaccessible and confined places easily, improving the quality of inspections as well as slashing costs.”
Drawing upon Terra Drone’s technological development expertise, the Terra Explore has been developed for a range of applications, including inspecting flare stacks at refineries, checking for mechanical wear and corrosion and detecting and stopping methane leaks.
Other applications range from inspecting ballast tanks of container ships to boiler superheaters and fermenter tanks, making it an essential addition for not only energy companies, but also miners, construction and agricultural industries.
Terra Drone recently established an office in the Queensland capital of Brisbane to bring the benefits of its advanced technology directly to the Australian energy and other industries.
This includes the latest and most advanced LiDAR laser scanning sensors in the market, with UAV solutions that deliver advanced accuracy within 3 centimetres and 3D models with high definition.
“Terra Explore gives the Australian energy sector a vital tool in its efforts to enhance productivity and safety while curtailing costs. Energy companies can no longer afford to rely on traditional processes – now is the time to adopt the new tools of the 21st century,” Mr Honda said.
Terra Drone provides surveying services direct to mining, construction and infrastructure management companies, benefitting from its significant experience in forestry and vegetation data capture, particularly in assessing encroachment on powerlines and critical infrastructure. The company also intends to offer hardware and software solutions to third party drone operators.
Terra Drone is also active in the fields of precision agriculture, disaster relief, obstacle avoidance and UAV fleet management.
In Japan, Terra Drone has partnerships with leading mining and construction companies including Hitachi, providing fully automated UAV surveying and data analysis of construction sites. It is currently experimenting with land surveying at US-based construction sites.
Terra Drone is part of the Tokyo-based Terra Group, which includes Terra Motors, the company that pioneered the electric motorbike market in Asia, currently selling 30,000 electric vehicles a year.
