Terra Drone’s Group Company Terra Drone Indonesia Conducts Workshop on Advanced Non-Destructive Testing Utilizing Drone Technology in Kuwait

March 27, 2025

Tokyo, March 27, 2025 – Terra Drone Corporation, the leading drone service provider, is pleased to announce that our subsidiary, Terra Drone Indonesia, co-hosted an Advanced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Workshop utilizing drone technology in Kuwait, in collaboration with International Inspection Centre Co. W.L.L. (INTREX), the largest NDT inspection services provider in the country. During the workshop, Terra Drone Indonesia delivered a presentation on how drone-based advanced inspection technologies can significantly enhance operational efficiency and safety in the oil and gas sector for key players from the Middle Eastern energy industry and featured live drone demonstrations. Terra Drone Indonesia remains committed to promoting the adoption and expansion of drone-based inspection technologies throughout Kuwait and the broader Middle East region.

Background and Objective

Under the framework of “Kuwait Vision 2035”, Kuwait is promoting economic diversification and a transition toward a renewable energy society, while significantly reducing its reliance on the oil and gas sector. To support this transition, it invests in the development of new energy infrastructure and the renovation of existing facilities, which drives a growing demand for efficient inspection and maintenance solutions.

Given these backgrounds, Terra Drone Indonesia has been collaborating with the UAE branch of NDT Corrosion Control Services Co. (NDTCCS), the largest NDT inspection services provider in the Middle East and parent company of INTREX, to expand the adoption of drone-based inspection technologies in the region. This workshop, held in Kuwait with INTREX, represents a major step in this strategic partnership.

Workshop Highlights

This workshop was organized for the benefit of approximately 50 participants from 18 leading companies in the energy sector, including KOC Insp. & Corrosion, a state-owned oil company, and Schlumberger, one of the world’s largest oilfield service companies.

Ray Ozma, Chief Technical and Technology Officer (CTTO) of Terra Drone Indonesia, gave  presentations on the following topics:

  • Transforming Industrial Inspection Through Drone Technology
  • Confined Space Inspection and 3D Modeling Using Drones

The presentations covered the knowledge of advanced NDT drone technology and showcased the real-world use case of ultrasonic testing (UT) drones for internal and external inspections and surveillance, along with solutions for optimizing industrial surveys. These sessions highlighted how such technologies contribute to enhancing operational efficiency and safety, especially in the oil and gas industry. The workshop also featured a live drone flight demonstration, offering participants the practical applications of drone-based NDT. The workshop concluded with a discussion and Q&A session, allowing participants to engage in discussing the advanced NDT technologies and the practical implementation of drone-based inspection workflows.

Future Outlook

This initiative marked a significant milestone for Terra Drone Indonesia as it expands its presence in the Middle East, particularly in Kuwait. Leveraging its partnership with NDTCCS, Terra Drone aims to further promote digital transformation in the local oil and gas industry by  introducing drone-based inspection solutions.
