Key Points: Strengthening Supply, Maintenance, and Logistics Capabilities for Defense Unmanned Assets and Accelerating Global Expansion from Europe
Tokyo, June 15, 2026 – Terra Drone Corporation, a leading drone and Urban Air Mobility (UAM) technology company headquartered in Japan, announces that it has established a new company, Terra Defense Europe, in the Republic of Estonia as a base for its defense business in Europe.
Terra Defense Europe will be responsible for the sales, maintenance, logistics management, and local partner coordination of unmanned aircraft and related systems for defense applications. Terra Drone positions the new company as a core base for its European defense business, and will use it to advance business development, supply, and maintenance and operational support capabilities within Europe for defense unmanned assets, including the interceptor drones “Terra A1,” “Terra A2,” and “Terra C1,” which are being developed in collaboration with Ukrainian companies.

Background
Since announcing its entry into the defense equipment market in March 2026, Terra Drone has been expanding its product portfolio and building its business foundation in the counter-drone defense domain, centered on its interceptor drone “Terra A1” and fixed-wing interceptor drone “Terra A2.”
At present, Europe is stepping up efforts to strengthen its defense capabilities and expand its regional defense industrial base in response to changes in the security environment. Within the European Union, the SAFE initiative has established a lending facility of up to EUR 150 billion to support joint procurement and strengthen defense industrial production capacity, while the EDIP initiative is also being advanced to expand production capacity and ensure stable supply within the defense sector. Under these frameworks, collaboration with Europe’s industrial base and local partners is becoming increasingly important.
At the same time, in order to expand defense unmanned aircraft and related systems internationally, it is essential to establish an operational structure that takes into account the regulatory frameworks and security requirements of each country and region. The international transfer of advanced defense equipment is subject to review and coordination processes under each country’s export control regime, and in some cases it can take considerable time before such systems are put into actual operation. Against this backdrop, Terra Drone determined that, in addition to a direct supply model from Japan, it was necessary to establish a business base within Europe, closer to areas of demand, in order to create an integrated structure capable of handling business development, supply, maintenance and operational support, and logistics management for defense unmanned assets.
The Republic of Estonia is geographically and strategically well positioned from the standpoint of defense and technology collaboration in Europe. Terra Drone therefore views Estonia as a key base for its European defense business and will advance the development of its defense operations across Europe and in other countries and regions.
Strategic Significance of Terra Defense Europe
- Establishing a Platform for Participation in European Defense Programs and Joint Procurement
Across Europe, efforts are underway to strengthen defense capabilities, promote joint procurement, and foster the regional defense industrial base. In this environment, having a locally rooted business structure and close collaboration with regional companies and relevant institutions is becoming increasingly important for capturing future business opportunities.
Terra Defense Europe will serve as a base for business development, local partner engagement, and customer support in the European defense market, thereby enhancing Terra Drone’s ability to participate in defense-related programs and joint procurement opportunities within Europe. Through this, Terra Drone aims to create new business opportunities in the defense sector with Europe as a strategic starting point.
- Strengthening the Revenue Base Through After-Sales Maintenance and Operational Support
In defense unmanned aircraft systems, continued customer support capabilities are critical, not only in product supply but also in post-deployment maintenance, operational support, and logistics management.
- Expanding Business Collaboration with Ukrainian Companies Across Europe
Terra Drone is building a business foundation for defense unmanned aircraft systems through collaboration with Ukrainian defense technology companies. Terra Defense Europe will serve as a base for expanding these partnerships across Europe, leveraging the development capabilities and business foundations that Ukrainian companies have built locally, together with Terra Drone’s global network, to drive the growth of its defense business from Europe.

At the same time, Europe is accelerating efforts to strengthen its defense capabilities and expand its regional defense industrial base, and Terra Drone believes that establishing a locally rooted business presence will be of critical importance for the future development of its defense business. With Europe as a strategic base, Terra Drone will promote the provision of defense unmanned assets tailored to the security needs of each region, thereby contributing to the protection of human lives and critical infrastructure.
Going forward, Terra Drone will continue to leverage the expertise it has built in drone development and operations, UTM, and global business expansion to create new business opportunities in the defense sector and enhance its corporate value over the medium to long term.
