Terra Drone Delivers Japan-Made Indoor Inspection Drone “Terra Xross 1” to Tokyo Power Technology

May 27, 2026

Tokyo, May 27, 2026Terra Drone Corporation, a leading drone and Urban Air Mobility (UAM) technology company headquartered in Japan, is pleased to announce thatit has delivered its Japan-made indoor inspection drone, “Terra Xross 1,” to Tokyo Power Technology Co., Ltd. (“Tokyo Power Technology”), a TEPCO Group company.

The drone is scheduled to be used for patrols and equipment inspections in indoor facilities and confined spaces at power plant-related facilities within the TEPCO Group.

Equipped with LiDAR and visual sensors, “Terra Xross 1” delivers stable indoor flight performance even in GPS-denied environments, while offering strong cost performance at approximately one-third the price of comparable products. It is expected to help improve worker safety and inspection efficiency in the maintenance of critical infrastructure.

Drone inspections not only enhance worker safety by keeping them out of hazardous environments but also significantly improve efficiency and cost performance of traditional inspection methods. Terra Drone has achieved stable indoor flight performance with the “Terra Xross 1” while offering it at approximately one-third the price of competing products, making it more affordable and accessible.

Deployment Overview

  • Customer: Tokyo Power Technology Co., Ltd.
  • Planned Application Site: Power plant-related facilities within the TEPCO Group
  • Primary Use Cases: Patrols and equipment inspections in indoor facilities and confined spaces within power plants

Key Benefits

  1. Improved Safety:
The drone enables equipment inspections and condition checks to be carried out without requiring workers to enter hazardous areas.
  2. Greater Efficiency:
For inspection tasks that have traditionally required manual labor or scaffold installation, the drone is expected to reduce both work time and preparation time. In addition, by utilizing optional accessories such as a power supply cable when needed, it may also support sites where extended inspection time is required.
  3. Stable Data Acquisition:
By leveraging stable flight enabled by LiDAR and visual sensors, the drone supports the capture of video data necessary for inspections even in dark indoor environments, confined spaces, and GPS-denied areas.

Future Outlook

Building on this delivery, Terra Drone aims to expand the adoption of “Terra Xross 1” in infrastructure maintenance and plant management fields, including the power industry.

As a Japan-based drone manufacturer, Terra Drone will continue to enhance the product by rapidly incorporating feedback from actual operating environments, thereby contributing to the strengthening of Japan’s infrastructure resilience and the optimization of maintenance costs, which remains a global challenge.
