Tokyo, April 28, 2026 –Terra Drone Corporation, a leading drone and Urban Air Mobility (UAM) technology company headquartered in Japan, announces that, through its subsidiary Terra Inspectioneering, it has made a strategic investment in WinnyLab LLC (“WinnyLab”), a Ukrainian defense technology company engaged in the development and manufacturing of fixed-wing interceptor drones.
This investment follows Terra Drone’s earlier investment in Amazing Drones, a developer of rocket-type interceptor drones in Ukraine, and forms part of the Company’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its layered defense portfolio in the interceptor drone domain.

Through this investment, Terra Drone will add fixed-wing interception capabilities suited for longer-range and longer-endurance operations to its existing short-range rapid-response interception capabilities, further accelerating the development of its layered defense system.

Background: The Evolution of Drone Warfare and the Need for Layered Defense
In today’s global security environment, mass, wide-area attacks by kamikaze drones—such as the Shahed series, which typically cost only tens of thousands of dollars per unit—have become a serious threat to critical infrastructure and civilian life. In response to these relatively low-cost threats, relying solely on interceptor missiles costing millions of dollars each presents clear challenges from a defense cost perspective. As a result, building a new and sustainable interception framework has become a key priority for the international community.
Within Ukraine, several companies have already demonstrated operational success with rocket-type drones suited for short-range interception. However, to enable broader-area and earlier-stage defense, there is a growing need for more affordable solutions with longer-range flight capabilities that can detect and neutralize threats at a greater distance.
To address these “mass-scale threats,” defense strategies are evolving from reliance on a single high-cost asset toward a layered defense approach that combines multiple means of interception to neutralize threats before they arrive. In this context, interceptor drones are being rapidly adopted as a new form of air defense infrastructure, given their low cost, high mobility, suitability for distributed deployment, and potential for continuous improvement and mass production.
To accelerate the realization of layered defense, Terra Drone is pursuing a broad range of initiatives, including enhancing drone capabilities, adapting general-purpose technologies for defense applications, leveraging its operational expertise, and expanding its network of strategic partners.
Purpose of the Investment
WinnyLab has successfully developed an electric fixed-wing interceptor drone with wide-area interception capabilities that combines long-endurance patrol performance with high-speed precision interception, even under extremely harsh combat conditions where communication jamming and GPS denial are routine.
Through this investment, Terra Drone will further expand the layered defense system it is building.
Key Features of the New Interceptor Drone, “Terra A2”
The company’s electric fixed-wing interceptor aircraft features advanced aerodynamic engineering and an optimized airframe design, enabling a top speed of 312 km/h, exceeding the commonly cited speed of approximately 200 km/h for Shahed-type drones, while providing wide-area coverage of up to 75 km. In addition, through the integrated optimization of battery capacity, propulsion efficiency, wing design, and drag reduction, it achieves more than 40 minutes of flight endurance.
The aircraft is also designed to operate in coordination with radar systems, allowing highly accurate awareness of both interceptor and target positions, thereby improving interception effectiveness against incoming threats. This makes it a highly practical solution capable of supporting both wide-area surveillance and rapid response missions.
Fixed-wing interceptor drones play a central role in enabling a “neutralize threats before they arrive” defense capability by providing:
(1) wide-area patrol and surveillance,
(2) early target detection and tracking,
(3) sustained interception response, and
(4) threat neutralization before close-range approach.

As a result, Terra A2 enables a single platform, with simple operability, to perform the full sequence from airspace surveillance to target detection, tracking, and neutralization. This represents the acquisition of a wide-area air defense layer that cannot be fully covered by short-range interception alone.
Layered Defense Through the Combination of Rocket-Type and Fixed-Wing Interceptor Drones
Terra Drone has already been strengthening its highly responsive close-range defense capabilities through its investment in a rocket-type interceptor drone company and the launch of Terra A1.
With this latest investment, the Company will establish the following two-layer defense structure:
- Fixed-Wing Type: Terra A2
Forward-line defense (wide-area surveillance, long-endurance patrol, long-range interception, and early threat response) - Rocket Type: Terra A1
Terminal defense (rapid launch, immediate interception, short-range response, and base protection)

By combining these two types of interceptor assets, Terra Drone will be able to select the most effective interception method based on the threat’s distance, speed, and flight path, thereby enabling a more advanced and resilient defense posture.
